Games are a great way for kids to spend time, but some games are just too complicated. The following is a look at some simple games that are fun for kids of all ages, and will help kids learn skills.
1. Whac-a-Mole: This is a fun game that you can purchase at just about any store that sells kidsgames. It is a game that comes with an electronic board, and four plastic hammers. When the helmet of the mole lights up, you are supposed to whack it. You get a score, and can play by yourself or against people. One of the best things about this game, also the fact that it is assuredly simple, is that it helps children of all ages build hand and eye coordination, as well as their reaction skills. It is a timed game, where you only have a few moments to whack the mole before it goes to a new one, so you have to be quick on your feet. The fun lights and sound effects will keep kids busy for hours.

2. Duck, duck, goose. This is a fun chase game that involves sitting in a circle with other kids, and touching their heads saying whether "duck" or "goose". When the person going colse to the seated people says "goose," the head of the person they touch must chase them colse to the circle back to that spot. If they tag them, the counter starts again, if they don't, the person who was the "goose" is now the counter. It is fun, it helps kids get out some energy, and gives them a chance to convention their mental skills. You will study that after a few rounds, the kids will be selective about who they select as their "goose" as they don't want to get caught.

It if gets dropped, they should start again at the first person. This develops hand eye coordination, and fine motor skills.
4. Mine field. For this game you need a group of at least four or five kids. One will be the caller, and one will be the blind folded one, and the rest are mines. Start at one end of a room, and have the caller guide the blind folded kid to the other side, avoiding the landmines (other kids), along the way. If they mess up, they have to start over. This teaches kids how to both give and get directions, and how to listen. It can also help them learn left and right.
These are just a few games, but they sure can be fun to play!

Shortstop Garrett Deschamp 4/14/2011 PBS v WFHS Video Clips. Duration : 8.02 Mins.
2011 Fielding by Shortstop Garrett Deschamp. Despite the setback Garrett suffered from a painful right knee (later found to be cracked) during his 2010, Junior year in high school, Garrett has bounced back in his Senior year as evident in this short video of the last two games. Thanks to Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Brent Bankston at Baton Rouge Orthopedic and Physical Therapist, Beau Lowery. Some have a set belief in how a shortstop should look; ie athletic looking, chiseled face, average height, etc. Garrett is 6'2" 185lbs and reacts to the ball. His sure glove or bare hands, it doesn't matter. "Just make the play" is his motto. A phrase he borrowed from "Dizzy" Dean, "If you can do it, then it ain't braggin." He's been accused of showboating by bare handing balls but, it's simply making the play that counts in his mind. He hates to fail but he doesn't let failure stop him. He just doubles his effort for the next go around. At the age of four he'd practice catching the ball called "red", "white" or "blue" painted tennis balls as they were thrown into the air together...learning to react. A game played on long trips to his grandparents were opportunities to practice defensive strategies from the shortstop or pitching positions. He grew up in the small bedroom community of New Orleans, Meraux, La. in St. Bernard Parish. He learned the basics from his father but as he advanced he learned even more from his All-Star coach, Ronnie Alonzo, Jr., who taught Garrett even more ...

With a little help from Barney and a big imagination, the children enjoy a fun-filled day at "Baby Bop's School" where every lesson includes unexpected surprises. Join Ashley, Hannah, Robert and Jeff as they sing an alphabet song, read in Baby Bop's book center, eat macaroni and cheese, and bounce into gym class. When the day is just about done, settle in with Baby Bop and her "blankey" for an afternoon nap. It's an unforgettable day of learning and laughter.
Barney - Let's Play School Specifications
Like perky Kathie Lee Gifford, Barney, the ubiquitous magical purple dinosaur, can elicit violent hatred and fierce loyalty. You're likely to get the latter from the average toddler, weaned on the inexplicably popular (to some) PBS series. Parents may want to first teach their children the original classic songs before they're invariably introduced to Barney and his lyric-altering renditions. (By now countless children think "This Old Man" is the "Barney I Love You" song.) This 50-minute video, never seen on television, focuses on Baby Bop (Barney's yellow baby dino friend), envious and curious about school. Barney and friends Ashley, Hannah, Robert, and Jeff offer to play school, with Baby Bop as teacher. Their songs include the Barney versions of "The Alphabet Song," "One, Two, Buckle My Shoe," "The Itsy Bitsy Spider," "Where Is Thumbkin?", and more. Let's Play School! offers a gentle introduction to toddlers curious about preschool and may waylay any apprehensions. With its emphasis on how school is both fun and educational it also entices its youngest audience by showing that Ashley, Hannah, Robert, and Jeff (who are about 8 or 9) represent those awe-inspiring older kids. They like school. Therefore, it can't be that bad. And neither is this video's ultimate message. --N.F. Mendoza
